We process your data to:

• Provide and operate the Application
• Deliver golf-related features such as distance calculations and club recommendations
• Save and display your play history
• Improve the app's functionality, performance, and user experience
• Handle support requests, feedback, and bug reports
• Manage early access/wishlist signups on the website and tester selection
• Manage subscriptions and Pro access (verify entitlements, restore purchases)
• Analyze aggregate usage (e.g. round starts, map usage) to improve the product
• Remember your preferences (units, background caddie, favorite courses)

3. Legal basis (GDPR)

We process your personal data based on:

• Contract – providing the app, subscriptions, and account features you request
• Consent – background location when you enable "Background caddie" and grant Always access; early access/wishlist on the website
• Legitimate interest – product improvement, security, and limited usage analytics (e.g. throttled map events, round starts), balanced against your rights

4. Location data

The Application uses precise location to:

• Show your position on the golf course map
• Calculate distances, wind-related adjustments, and club recommendations
• Place and use distance markers during a round

When you grant "While Using the App" permission, location is used only while the app is in the foreground (or as allowed by your device).

Optional background location ("Background caddie"):

If you enable this feature and grant "Always" location access, we may collect your precise GPS position in the background during an active round session (for a limited session period), so your position can appear quickly when you return to the app. This is optional and can be disabled at any time in the app or in your device's location settings for Caddio.

We do not use location for advertising or sell location data to third parties.

5. Data sharing and third-party services

We only share data when necessary to operate the Application.

We use the following third-party services:

• Supabase – authentication, database, and account deletion
• Mapbox – map display and map-related location processing (see Mapbox's privacy policy)
• Apple – Sign in with Apple and In-App Purchases / subscriptions (Apple processes payment; we receive subscription status, not full card details)
• Google – Sign in with Google (if you choose that option)
• RevenueCat – subscription management, entitlement verification, and purchase/restore handling (links your app user ID to Apple subscription status; see RevenueCat's privacy policy at https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy)
• SMHI / Open-Meteo – weather and wind data (we send approximate coordinates to fetch weather; we do not send your identity to these providers for weather requests)

These providers process data under their own privacy policies and, where applicable, data processing agreements. We do not sell your personal data.

6. Subscriptions (Caddio Pro)

Caddio offers optional auto-renewing subscriptions (e.g. monthly and yearly) through Apple's In-App Purchase system.

• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
• You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple account settings
• Free trial terms, if offered, are shown in the app at purchase time and in App Store Connect

We use RevenueCat to verify whether you have active Pro access. We do not store your payment card number.

7. Transfers outside the EU

Some of our service providers may process data outside the EU/EEA.

In such cases, protection is ensured through:

• EU Commission Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs)

8. Data retention

We retain your data as follows:

• Account and profile data: retained while your account is active; deleted when you delete your account (subject to backup/legal retention limits)
• Subscription/purchase records: retained as needed for billing support, fraud prevention, and legal obligations (via Apple/RevenueCat according to their policies)
• Usage/analytics rows (e.g. round starts, throttled map taps): retained for up to 24 months, then deleted or anonymized where feasible
• Background location: not stored as a continuous track on our servers by default; used on-device and in session-related processing; any server-side location-related records follow the retention above

9. Your rights

You have the right to:

• Request access to your data
• Request rectification
• Request erasure ("the right to be forgotten")
• Object to processing
• Request data portability
• Lodge a complaint with the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY)

10. Account deletion

You can delete your account at any time.

Upon deletion:

• Your personal data is removed from our systems
• Local data in the app is cleared
• Deletion removes your profile, club data, favorites, feedback/bug reports tied to your account, and related usage records stored in our database, in line with our deletion process
• Active App Store subscriptions are managed by Apple; deleting your Caddio account does not automatically cancel your Apple subscription — cancel in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions (or via the link in the app)

11. Children's privacy

The Application is not directed at persons under 13 years of age.

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

12. Security

We take technical and organizational measures to protect your data.

However, no method can be 100% secure.

13. Changes

We may update this policy as needed.

The latest version is published at https://www.caddio.se/privacy and linked from the app (login, paywall, and account-related flows).
